"Always been a yummy fish n chip shop, it's much better than what it use to be anyway. Sometimes the kina is abit off and the lady taking the orders needs manners instead of answering the phone and laughing while talking to someone else for a good cpl minutes, was nearly going to hang up on her because it wasn't worth ordering but instead I said 'Hello are you going to take my order or what!!' The Owner is cool as though. Overall very nice Gurnard and the chips are yum, crayfish is yum, just need abit of work on the Chinese food."

"The best fried bread I have every had. Lovely and crispy on outside and soft in the inside. The cream paua is absolutely delicious . I have been twice now with my partner and both times the meals have been yummy and great value. Raw fish is so good too. My partner said the whitebait fritter was delicious too. The prawn crackers and dumplings so tasty . If your near Kawerau or just passing through Larry's takeaways is well worth the drive for a yummy lunch or dinner."

"Tell me about great hot chips!!! Phone ordered on our way to the Kawerau pools, walked through a spacious well maintained village precinct to a bustling dine in store, friendly greeting with a precise timely operation, the transaction. Seeing someone else's order of steamed mussels and garlic butter I wish I added that to my order. Walked through to find an empty car park at the pools, but these hot chips made it all worth the trip to beautiful Kawerau. Thank you Larry's Takeaways, keep it up!!"

"Not complaining or anything but when someone ask for a bacon burger, please don't make the bacon look like Ham. Make it crispy. Also please season the steak for the steak burger. Besides those things, I highly recommend this place"
